Key Deliverables
Planning & Delivery
- Analyze system utilization trends and forecast data to determine hardware optimization needs, guide equipment provisioning, and support decisions related to network evolution or the rollout of new/enhanced system services.
- Perform proactive planning of core network infrastructure, ensuring sufficient capacity to support business and customer demands while staying within defined budgetary constraints.
- Support Management and Specialist in the planning and scoping of all technical facility requirements across Data Centres and BTS sites relating to mechanical systems.
- Support in the execution of short- to mid-term implementation plans and prioritize network expansion projects.
- Review, update and maintain design standards for regional Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) resources.
- Forecast and model future energy demand and capacity, in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Support in the evaluation and specification of new infrastructure equipment and technologies.
- Support in the procurement process (including RFPs and BoMs), assist in verifying engineering specifications, support in the review of ordered equipment configuration.
- Support in the execution of implementation plans, with seamless handover to Network Operations for cutover and live network integration.
- Uphold all relevant policies, procedures, and quality standards throughout the planning and implementation lifecycle.
Network Optimisation & Performance
- Review and analyze system performance metrics, compile performance trends, and present data-driven recommendations to optimize system efficiency and ensure alignment with service quality objectives.
- Ensure design quality and compliance with performance standards to meet internal and external customer expectations.
- Monitor analyse and report on network and facility performance, identifying and addressing issues at divisional level.
- Drive and implement optimization initiatives aimed at improving the performance, reliability, and resilience of infrastructure.
- Participate in technical tender evaluations and contribute to the formulation of technical requirements and specifications.
- Act as a supporting technical resource for the review, update, and enhancement of data centre and renewable energy system designs.
Communication and co-ordination
- Ensure effective communication of plans and facilitate feedback integration from relevant stakeholders.
- Support the development and preparation of technical documentation required for implementation and integration activities.
- Interface with departments across the Network Group, including Information Systems (IS), Enterprise Business Unit (EBU), Product Development, and Planning, to gather requirements, identify challenges, and co-create effective solutions.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders—such as vendors, third-party providers, local engineering teams—and internal business units, including Legal, Logistics, and Procurement, to ensure contracts and technical deliverables are aligned with MTN’s infrastructure standards and objectives.
Financial Management
- Provide input into the forecasting and planning of budgets for the implementation of new solutions.

Education:
- Matric or equivalent
- B Degree or National Technical Diploma with relevant experience
Experience:
- Experience in the engineering and implementation environment
- Worked across diverse cultures and geographies advantageous
