Reporting: Technical Operations Manager 

Job Summary

The role of the Senior Cloud Engineer is to be a technical advisor and be the overall technical escalation point for Cloud Technologies and Solutions. The role includes installation, support, management, maintenance of internal and customer data centre infrastructure. The senior Cloud Engineer is required to work closely with the CTO on innovation and technical solutions. The Senior Cloud Engineer requires experience in server, storage, network, backup, virtualisation and security technologies. The role requires expert knowledge and deep technical skill to troubleshoot and continuously improve data centre infrastructure availability and performance. The role requires excellent documentation and communication skills.

  • Veeam Backup & Replication Software
  • Monitoring and management software
• Installation and configuration of Infrastructure solutions of public clouds like Amazon and Azure
• Integration of Silicon Sky solutions with AWS and/or Azure
• Installations, configurations and patching to vendor best practices
• Configuration of the following: o Storage volumes
  • RAID
  • iSCSI
  • SMB/NFS
  • Virtual Machines
  • Virtual Networks
  • Advanced physical networks
  • Firewall appliances
  • Load Balancer appliances
  • Vcloud Director
    • Organisation VDC’s
    • Provider VDC’s
    • Networks
    • Storage Policies
    • User Access
  • Window Servers
  • Linux Servers (Basic Set-Up)
• Innovation of Cloud Infrastruce
  • Constant optimisation

• Work independently on the above technologies
• Be an escalation point on complex problems
• Develop standards policies and procedures
• Ensure compliance to standards and policies
• Advise and mentor Cloud team members
• Develop and Document Installations
• Develop Macro and Micro Designs for Cloud Solutions
• Develop and maintain customer environment documentation
• Develop and maintain internal environment documentation
• Capacity and performance reporting
• Troubleshoot infrastructure issues
• Research new technologies
• Respond to customer tickets (email) within 30 minutes
• Respond to customer telephone calls
• Attend customer meetings/workshops
• Lead customer workshops
• Technical presentations
• Work very closely with the CTO
• Work closely with sales and pre-sales

Qualifications / Experience

• At least 12 years’ experience in working with data centre technologies
• VMware Technical Certified
• VMware Design Certified
• Advanced Storage certification
• Network certification
• Veeam Technical Certification
• Veeam Design certification
• Security certification
• Experience with Visio, PowerPoint and Word
